Since birth there has always been something off about this pretty dead baby. She came into the world with no heartbeat or body temperature, and yet she functioned like everyone else. For fear of what she might become her parents tried to get rid of her in many different ways, for example burying her alive and drowning her in the tub.
Unfortunately their efforts failed and as she reached a pre-teen age she did the same to them. She uses her collection of ugly dolls to keep the babies she steals entertained, seeing as their parents are probably suffocating in a grave somewhere. By the time they reach a pre-teen age they learn the same skills and help her to forge a new breed of humans that constantly kill by means of torture.
In her mind she is a loving mother who will do anything for her babies.

“Pray for Darkness” is the fifth book by James Michael Rice and he doesn’t disappoint. His personal experience regarding the setting of the story is evident and it adds to the dimension in which he describes it. In addition, his choice of surroundings really contributes to the thrill of the story. Out of place and under-equipped, a group of friends take on an adventure they can’t handle.
