The Evil Stare
I dare you to look into my eyes!
Scary Pictures Archives
There is more to a scary face than just the horror appearance, and it does not even have to be gruesome to be scary. This evil looking young lady is not gruesome at all, but that stare is evil enough. Her eyes are piercing. The snarl is wicked showing her teeth with a small pool of blood gathering. It feels like she is seeing inside you.

There are all types of scary pictures. Most of the scariest ones attract your attention at first glance. Others may actually take a little time for you to notice all horror elements. A great horror picture is an art form by itself from the actor, makeup, and photo setting. Pictures can communicate a lot of things that words cannot. Horrifying images can involve nearly and endless array of subjects – dead people, gory scenes, zombies, vampires, witches, demons, ghosts, depressing atmospheres like old castles, dungeons, haunted houses, even animals can be involved.
Monsters are another popular form of art that can be used for horror and Halloween. That of a pirate with green eyes, skulls hanging all over the body and carrying a stake. The others could be those serial killing monsters like “Friday the 13th” or any post apocalypse movies with zombies in them.
How Professional Horror Photos are Made

Some people just tend to be more scary looking greatly enhancing the effect from the onset. They can also manipulate their facial muscles to look unnatural and glare with their eyes.

It can’t end with just a scary face. The clothes are just as important. Tattered, torn, and dirty give an uneasy perception of a person not conforming to social norms. Depending on the horror character there are stereotypes that go along with each. For example a vampire with a white face dressed in black with a black cape.
The setting or the background, while typically dark and gloomy, but sometimes broad daylight also works. The key is in using filters or fade effects so that the human face itself looks naturally scary. The effect created in this part is important, to bring out the zombie like feel while still maintaining the intensity of the eyes. This can freak out most people if done well.
To get a professional scary photo, many are taken. The unknowing are often surprised at how many pictures are taken just to get a couple or one great picture!

After the photo or photos are narrowed down to the best, they enter what is known as post production or after effects. These are the touches that are put on the photo rather than on the actor/subject matter. There are many approaches that can be taken, but sa few basic principles involve computer programs that can edit photos.

A majority of all scary pictures involves blood (or at least the color of blood) as it always gets instant and instinctive attention. The blood should look natural and slightly dried up. Some creative artists make blood ooze out with a tear effect on the cheek that would also show the cut skin.
Many other variations are used such as scars, gory teeth shown along with cuts and bruises.
You will see many scary pictures here that apply these principles, and for the creative masters some that don’t, and yet are still very scary!
