Exorcist TV Series Wants To Spin Your Head

April 20, 2016 By Horror Palace Leave a Comment

Ready to get creeped out from your own living room? Fox is making a pilot inspired by the famous book by William Peter Blatty known as “The Exorcist.”

You might be thinking, “but I’ve already seen the movie and read the book,” Fox is promising a brand new take on the story and since it’s a series, you can count on it being inspired by the book, but not an exact duplication.

Exorcist-TV-show-feature

Even though right now the show isn’t officially a series order, just a pilot, the probability for it being picked-up is there. The exorcist movie is considered to be one of the scariest movies of all time, so the there is potential for a successful modern-day interpretation of some awesomely horrific material.

The the right people are in place to make it happen.  Rise of the Planet of the Apes director, Rupert Wyatt is bringing his vision for a psychological thriller to life on the small screen. Geena Davis, the female lead from Beetlejuice will be playing the character known as “Angela” in the possible Fox series. Angela is a woman fighting to stay strong in her faith while her family life is in turmoil. She has horrific recurring dreams about a demon, leading her to believe it’s a sign of what’s wrong. Ben Daniels, who portrayed Adam Galloway for two seasons on Netflix’s award-winning series House of Cards will be playing the role of Father Marcus, a religious leader hell-bent on performing exorcisms even without the support of his church.

Since it’s still in the begining stages, horror fans will have to bite their nails in anticipation of the pilot convincing fox executives to order a full series, but things are looking up…or maybe sinister is the better word!

“Channel Zero” coming to SyFy

July 3, 2015 By Horror Palace Leave a Comment

channel-one-featureUNIVERSAL CABLE PRODUCTIONS AND SYFY ANNOUNCE DEVELOPMENT OF “CHANNEL ZERO” HORROR ANTHOLOGY SERIES FROM MAX LANDIS AND NICK ANTOSCA

UNIVERSAL CITY, CA – June 30, 2015 – Universal Cable Productions (UCP) and Syfy today announced the development of “Channel Zero” with Nick Antosca (“Hannibal,” “Friday the 13th”) set to write the script, and Max Landis (“Chronicle,” “American Ultra”) set to produce and helm creative direction along with Antosca.

“Channel Zero” will feature a unique setup, with each season focusing on a new story. The first season of the horror anthology series for Syfy will be based on “Candle Cove” by Kris Straub, a story that originates from the user-generated internet horror phenomenon known as creepypasta. It tells the story of a mysterious children’s television show from the 1980s and the show’s role in a series of murders and one man’s dark secret.

“’Channel Zero: Candle Cove’ is a season long imaginative and chilling horror anthology,” said Dawn Olmstead, Executive Vice President of Development, Universal Cable Productions. “With its first story deriving from the cult favorite creepypasta, and the visionary minds of Landis and Antosca, it is elevated horror at its best. I’m still haunted by the first episode. It’s a chilling immersive ride.”

Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice President, Original Content for Syfy, said, “’Channel Zero: Candle Cove’ will feature contemporary storytelling and an innovative perspective that underscores Syfy’s commitment to bringing smart and provocative programming to a whole new generation of sci fi fans.”

“We love the idea of doing seasons of TV like rich, character-driven horror novels, and for ‘Channel Zero: Candle Cove’ we’ve expanded this great short story ‘Candle Cove’ into something really nightmarish and haunting and surreal,” said Landis and Antosca. “We can’t wait to dig in deeper and bring this to life with Syfy and Universal Cable Productions.”

“Channel Zero” joins an array of current high profile UCP and Syfy collaborations, including “Childhood’s End,” the first-ever adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke’s iconic novel starring Charles Dance, Mike Vogel and Julian McMahon; “Brave New World,” based on Aldous Huxley’s classic novel which is being developed alongside Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television; “The Magicians,” based on Lev Grossman’s popular trilogy; and Wes Craven’s “The People Under The Stairs,” based on the 1991 film; and “We Are All Completely Fine,” based on book by Daryl Gregory.

March 7, 2015 By Horror Palace Leave a Comment

Further, while you are there, check out the sneak peek trailer for Bates Motel: Season 3, here: Aetv.com/bates-motel/video/sneak-peek-bates-motel-and-the-returned.

bates-motel-mother-son

As fans of the show know, Norman has been slowly evolving into the older adult Norman Bates who is the focus of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho movie franchise though the show is set in contemporary America.  The show serves as a prequel that delves into the mind of Norman Bates, a boy in his latter teens, and heart of the inappropriate relationship, which is very creepy and uncomfortable to watch, that he experiences with his overbearing mother, leading to the duality of his personality exhibited in the Psycho franchise, half perfect gentleman, half perfect psycho!

If you haven’t seen Bates Motel: Season 1, 2, or 3, I don’t want to spoil it for you any further and I definitely recommend watching Season 1 for free on Hulu, here: Hulu.com/bates-motel, and if you enjoy it, of course, follow it up with Season 2 on the A&E website as previously mentioned!  If you have access to a Netflix account, you can also check out Bates Motel: Season 1 & 2 on Netflix.

Nicola Peltz (Bradley) confirmed her return to the cast along with Kenny Johnson (Caleb), at Comic-Con 2014 and obviously the main characters Norman (Freddie Highmore) and Norma aka “Mother” (Vera Farmiga), will return.  The IMDB shows the returning cast so far without regard to guest stars who have not yet appeared on the database as, Max Thieriot (Dylan Massett), Nestor Carbonell (Sheriff Alex Romero), Olivia Cooke (Emma Decody), Christian Michael (Aaron), Natalie Moon (Aaron’s Mother), and Robert Mann (Dale).

The rest of the cast aside from those mentioned are a mystery until the show airs and the drama unfolds.  We can only guess what creepy inappropriateness and murders ensue this season as Norman moves closer into evolving into a bonafide psycho!  Norman is getting much closer to truly believing a boy’s best friend is his mother!

Lady Gaga Checking into “Hotel” on American Horror Story

March 1, 2015 By Horror Palace Leave a Comment

lady-gaga-american-horror-story-2For all the American Horror Story fans out there, Season 5 will proceed this fall as expected and will be entitled, “Hotel”, but the most anticipated feature of the upcoming season is the presence of Lady Gaga among the cast.  This will be Lady Gaga’s first major television role as an actress though she has starred in cameos such as in Men in Black 3, Machete Kills, The Sopranos, and Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For.

Further, she has previously done work alongside Ryan Murphy, who is one of the creators of the popular horror TV show surrounding the use of her songs on Glee in 2010 and appeared on some unscripted TV shows, including, So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol, and the XFactor.

You can check out Lady Gaga’s tweet on Twitter regarding American Horror Story’s Season 5, “Hotel” on her Twitter profile, where she shares a teaser trailer for the next season of AHS in October, 2015!  Gaga is the first confirmed member of the popular FX show’s next season as the rest of the details have remained a secret.

We can only speculate about the appearance of top stars on the show, especially Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters, and Sarah Paulson.  I guess their involvement in the show remains to be seen.  I know I can’t wait for the next incarnation of American Horror Story this fall and will patiently wait for the details to unfold.lady-gaga-american-horror-story-1

We can also only speculate about the subject matter taking place in the hotel featured in the show’s next season and perhaps even how the parallels between the seasons may be further linked in the manner we’ve seen with Dr. Arden, who was a psychiatrist in AHS: Season 2, “Asylum” and in “Freakshow” as Elsa’s tormentor as well as in the case of Pepper, who was an inmate in AHS: Season 2, “Asylum”, as one of the freak’s in AHS: Season 4, “Freakshow”.  Since we’ve seen at least two links between Season 2 and 4, maybe we can expect more links to be revealed in the next season.
