Book: Sun Bleached Winter Year: 2012 Publisher: Damnation Books Author: D. Robert Grixti Language: English Chapters: 16 Pages: 116 Type: Novel |
Author’s Summary: They survived the apocalypse…but are they ready for the aftermath? Lionel Morton and his sister, Claire are trapped and in danger in a wasteland frozen in nuclear winter. Somehow, they managed to live through the collapse of human civilization, but the real nightmare is just beginning. Taking shelter in an abandoned bunker, they intercept a radio broadcast that promises salvation in “New City” — the supposed last vestige of humanity. With nowhere else to go and nothing to lose, Lionel and Claire decide to embark on the most dangerous journey of their lives: fight through the wasteland to reach a place that may not even exist. Sun Bleached Winter is a dark, violent story of survival, desperation and loss that explores the truly terrifying reality of the apocalypse in a world where good and evil are meaningless and where killers and cannibals lurk over every hill. |
Review: The story is similar as with most horror novels; it’s about surviving salvation in a world of death and endless snow. Lionel Morton and his sister Claire are trying to find more people, and a place to live in this abrupt ending of civilization. They continually face hard times and avoid bad people, which in this they are cannibals looking for human meat.
Bad luck comes to Claire when she gets a cut on her forehead running away from the savages. She slowly weakens and eventually tragedy ensues for Lionel. His whole outlook and perspective shifts…he starts talking to himself…and/or…an unknown dark shadow whom he thinks is taunting him. From there I am leaving it to your imagination as many things continue to fluster Lionel in this epic struggle.
I 100% loved this novel, and I am rating Sun Bleached Winter the highest possible because I could relate to this crisis and unbeknownst circumstances that would surely come in a scenario such as this. There are very few ideas in novels that portray such true feelings that if these events did happen in real life, the pursuing demise of oneself would surely exist.
Sun Bleached Winter is available at popular book stores like Amazon and Barnes & Noble in Paperback form for the low price of $11.94. If you’re anxious and can’t wait for shipment there is also an Electronic Version or E-Book that they are most commonly called for your Kindle, Smart Phone or Tablet device at almost 1/3 the price of the book coming in at $4.50. This is an outstanding novel that deserves the mass appeal of all you horror readers in Internet land. My ratings, suggestions and links are below.
